A Word from the Director

Dear Friends,

After three years of prayer, discernment, and planning with many dedicated people, I bear witness to the creative power of God’s Spirit hovering over the deep waters to bring form out of the formless (Gen.1:2). The Spirit of the Lord gave us and continues to give us the freedom we need to allow the present form to emerge, grow, and change according to the needs of God’s people in the Church and world (Cor. 3:17). I am deeply grateful for the power of the Spirit at work in and through all those who have played a part and those whom the Spirit will draw to become a part of this two-year certificate program in Spiritual Direction and Leadership called Pneuma. The multiple meanings of Pneuma can both deepen and widen our understanding of the ministry of spiritual direction and spiritual leadership. May Christ’s Spirit inspire you as you ponder these meanings and possibly nudge you to respond to a call to prepare for the ministry of Spiritual Direction and Leadership through the Pneuma program. Enjoy exploring the various links available throughout the Pneuma web pages.

If you are attracted to the Pneuma program but find that the current program format precludes your participation, please send me an e-mail expressing your interest in the program in another format (e.g. summer program, week long sessions spread throughout the year). I welcome your comments, insights, questions as these will help us discern the future shape of Pneuma.

God’s blessings on your journey,

Martha Robbins, Th.D., Director
Pneuma
