Academic Affairs

Heather Vacek   Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty As dean, Heather works with the faculty to develop the Seminary's curriculum and academic policies as well as program and course offerings. As vice president, she oversees the operations of the Academic Affairs and related offices as well as admissions and enrollment.
     
Anne Malone  
Registrar Anne manages the functions of the Registrar’s Office including the registration process for new and returning students, scheduling courses offered each term, maintaining student academic records, processes transcript requests, and maintaining degree audits to certify students for graduation. Additionally, Anne assists students and faculty in navigating their respective portals and works with the dean and faculty on future course offerings.
     
Holly McKelvey   Administrative Assistant to the Faculty and Director of Field Education Holly provides support to the faculty to assist in their teaching, research, and writing responsibilities.
     
Ramona Spencer   Administrative Coordinator Ramona assists in the day-to-day operations of the Dean of Faculty's office, including coordinating commencement.
 

Admissions

Derek Davenport '05 / SYI '97   Director of Enrollment and Co-Director of the Miller Summer Youth Institute Derek’s work with enrollment focuses on developing and analyzing enrollment strategies. He frequently represents the Seminary through teaching and preaching engagements. In addition to his work in enrollment, he prepares young leaders for a variety of vocations through the Miller Summer Youth Institute.
     
Cheryl De Paolis   Director of Financial Aid Cheryl coordinates the financial aid program for students. This includes grants, scholarships, and loans.
     
Hallie Isadore   Admissions Coordinator Hallie serves the vice president for planning and institutional effectiveness with various projects related to institutional effectiveness, prospective students, enrollment, and the admissions process.
     
Anthony Rivera   Director of Admissions Tony deals with everything related to admissions from recruitment, to answering questions about our degree programs, to helping applicants through the application process. He is the main contact for international students and coordinates the visit events.

Barbour Library

Michelle Spomer   Director of the Barbour Library Michelle oversees all aspects of the library.
     
Diane Faust   Serials Librarian Diane coordinates which magazines and periodicals the Seminary offers.
     
Sandra Howard   Cataloger Sandy ensures that our resources are recorded and can be located in the Seminary's database.
     
Ellen Little   Circulation Manager Ellen oversees the library’s circulation desk activities (checking books in and out, entering new borrowers, updating records, and the like). She also trains and supervises the students who work in the library.
     
Alyson Pope   Head of Library Public Services Alyson provides one-on-one research assistance, coordinates reference services, and develops instructional resources for library users.
     
Scott Richardson-Eckes   Acquisitions Assistant If you need a book or an article, just let Scott know and he will make sure to purchase it for our library, or pass it on to our interlibrary loan librarian to loan it for you from another library.
     
Mark C. Russell   Interlibrary Loan/Reference Librarian Mark handles Interlibrary loan (borrowing materials from other libraries). He also provides reference assistance and oversees library operations on select evenings.
     
Darlene Veghts   Head of Technical Services Darlene coordinates the cataloging and processing of library materials.

Business Office

Tom Hinds   Vice President for Finance and Administration Tom oversees the financial and other administrative functions of the Seminary, including facilities, information technology, human resources, and food service. He is a member of the senior leadership team.
     
Kendra Eberhardt   Senior Accountant Kendra's responsibilities include financial reporting, as well as the automation and implementation of accounting systems, procedures and controls.
     
Ellen Frisco   Assistant Controller Ellen manages the  accounting and financial operations of the Seminary. She also manages the Seminary's payroll function.
     
Carolyn Koszarsky   Accounts Payable Coordinator Carolyn is the accounts payable coordinator and assists with payroll.
     
Karen McMahon   Human Resources Manager Karen manages the Seminary's human resources.
     
Carol Spotts   Accountant and Student Housing Coordinator Carol takes care of the Seminary's accounts receivable and is in charge of on-campus housing.

Church Planting Initiative

Karen Rohrer   Director of the Church Planting Initiative Karen oversee's the Seminary's Church Planting Initiative which supports Christian leaders who participate in God’s work of developing new Christian communities and revitalizing existing congregations. Learn more about the program.

Community Engagement

John Welch   Vice President for Student Services and Community Engagement and Dean of Students John coordinates the Seminary's community engagement efforts.
     
Sandy Smith   Hospitality Receptionist Sandy coordinates the Seminary's master calendar of events and related activities including catering, AV, and guest housing.

 

Continuing Education

Helen Blier   Director of Continuing Education Helen determines the Seminary's CE offerings. She is working to develop new programs for church leaders and lay persons. Learn more about the program.
     
Lori Arnold   Continuing Education Coordinator Lori manages the daily operations of this office and orchestrates support of its events.

Doctor of Ministry Program

Brian Wells   Director of the Doctor of Ministry Program Brian leads the Seminary's Doctor of Ministry Program overseeing the focus areas, teaching, and recruiting. Learn more about the program.
     
Ramona Spencer   Administrative Coordinator Ramona assists the Doctor of Ministry Director in the daily operations of the office, student support, and class preparation.

Facilities

Tom Fulton   Facilities Director Tom manages the facilities department which is charged with maintaining the Seminary's grounds.
     
Darryl Allen   Custodian Darryl works in the student housing building to provide clean living spaces.
     
John Bendzsuk   Stationary Engineer John can be found providing general assistance as well as working in the Seminary's mailroom as needed.
     
Bob Cieri   Custodian Bob ensures that McNaugher is clean and welcoming to the PTS community and beyond.
     
Sandy Cieri   Custodian Sandy oversees Calian Hall and provides custodial services to the students and visitors in that building.
     
Jerome Costelnock   Maintenance Jerome works in campus housing to keep the apartments running smoothly.
     
Dan Holmes   Director of Mail and Print/Copy Services Dan serves all members of the community in sorting and delivering the mail as well as coping and mailing a variety of communications.
     
Joe Mafrici   Assistant Facilities Director Joe assists in managing the Seminary's facilities and can be found working in a variety of trades.
     
Robert Marnik   Stationary Engineer Robert is the Seminary’s “comfort specialist” in charge of the heating and cooling operations.
     
John McMahon   Custodian John provides custodial services in the Chapel and Barbour Library, ensuring that both are clean for the staff, students, and many campus visitors.
     
Audrey Starr   Custodian Audrey works to keep Long Hall clean and ready for special events and daily lectures.

Field Education

Cathy Brall   Director of Field Education Cathy coordinates students and churches in the Field Education program.
     
Holly McKelvey   Administrative Assistant to the Director of Field Education Holly provides support the director of the Field Education program.

Information Technology

David Middleton   Director of Information Technology David is in charge of the Seminary’s technology infrastructure including the Seminary’s network, servers, databases, websites, telephone system, printing resources, and software solutions as well as support for these systems.
     
Brian Fidell   Network Administrator Brian assists the IT director in managing the Seminary's network including phones and e-mails. He provides IT support to employees.
     
David Keys   Database and Website Administrator David runs reports from the Seminary's database, oversees the functionality of the Seminary's website, and is in charge of the Seminary's website portal for students, faculty, and staff.
     
Tyler Mumau   Audio Visual Technician  Tyler provides A/V support to the Seminary community by providing event assistance and setting up equipment and/or software.
     

Institutional Advancement

     
Carolyn Cranston '99   Director of Alumnae/i and Church Relations Carolyn works with alums to host the annual Alumnae/i Days events, Phonathon, and graduation brunch. Additionally, she is the liaison between the Seminary and supporting churches.
     
Nancy Hammond   Administrative Assistant, Advancement Nancy processes the Seminary's gifts and generates donor stewardship reports.
     
Amanda Kile  
Director of Advancement Amanda directs the initiatives of the Advancement Office. She builds and fosters relationships with the Seminary’s friends and donors, focusing on annual gifts, major gifts, and planned gifts.
     
Melissa Logan   Director of Communications Melissa manages the Seminary's communications including print and online, social media, and website. Additionally, she is the contact for media relations and advertising.
     
Robin Menard   Communications and Marketing Specialist Robin is responsible for advertising, marketing, and event promotion as it relates to Continuing Education, Church Planting Initiative, Kelso Museum, Metro-Urban Institute, and the World Mission Initiative.
     
Connie Gundry Tappy   Senior Writer and Resource Strategist Connie works with the various Advancement and auxiliary program directors to develop online and printed resources, as well as public relations and fund-raising materials, that serve the Seminary’s wide array of constituents.

Institutional Effectiveness

Jim Downey   Vice President for Planning and Institutional Effectiveness Jim serves on the Seminary’s administrative cabinet and oversees the Seminary’s accreditation. He works closely with the Board of Directors and other leadership to determine and carry out the Seminary’s strategic plan. 
     
Hallie Isadore   Admissions Coordinator Hallie serves the vice president for planning and institutional effectiveness with various projects related to institutional effectiveness.

Kelso Museum

     
Jennifer Hipple '11   Associate Curator Jennifer oversees and coordinates the operations of the museum, and plans and coordinates production of museum exhibits. She also welcomes visitors and special groups to the museum, and conducts research on objects in the collection. Karen Bowden Cooper '98   Resouce Curator Consultant Karen provides research oversight, exhibit planning, connections to scholars and other museums, programmatic planning in conjunction with staff and visiting committee, as well as fundraising activities.
     
Nancy Lapp   Curator Emerita Nancy assists in the museum's operations and continues to write about the excavations done in 1969-1970 by her late husband Paul.

Metro-Urban Institute

Kimberly Gonxhe '07  

Director of the Metro-Urban Institute Kimberly directs the Christian Leadership Certificate Program and the Graduate Certificate in Urban Ministry in addition to visioning the future of MUI and how the Seminary can serve the urban community. Learn more about the program.

     
Stephanie Boddie   Senior Consultant to the Metro-Urban Institute Stephanie wrties strategic correspondence, assist with MUI strategic planning, and attends community meetings when needed.
     
Katie Yates   Administrative Assistant to the Metro-Urban Institute Katie provides administrative support for the MUI program, and helps to coordinate the program’s educational opportunities as well as other MUI events and promotions in the greater Pittsburgh community.

Miller Summer Youth Institute

 
Erin Davenport MSW ’05   Director of the Miller Summer Youth Institute Erin Davenport co-directs the Miller Summer Youth Institute with her husband, Derek. Erin plans the two-week long Institute held every summer for rising high school seniors. She also serves the more than 450 alumnae/i of the program year round by holding reunions, communicating with them on social media, and traveling to visit them. Derek Davenport ’05 / SYI ’97   Director of Enrollment and Co-Director of the Miller Summer Youth Institute Derek is the co-director of the Miller Summer Youth Institute and works to bring high-school-aged youth to campus to explore theological education.
     
Danielle Harris   Administrative Assistant to the Miller Summer Youth Institute Danielle assists the co-directors in the general operation of the program.

Placement Office

John Welch '02   Vice President for Student Services and Community Engagement and Dean of Students John coordinates placement events for students on campus.
     
Danielle Harris   Administrative Assistant to the Placement Office For Placement, Danielle communicates with the churches and posts open positions.

President's Office

David Esterline   President and Professor of Cross-Cultural Theological Education President Esterline works with the Seminary's leadership team to determine the Seminary's core focuses and new programs. He is a faculty member and teaches courses cross-cultural theological education.
     
Linda Smith   Administrative Assistant to the President Linda Smith assists President Esterline in his daily activities as well as schedules his calendar and makes his travel arrangements. Additionally, Linda is a Notary Public and can serve all members of the PTS community in this capacity.

Student Services

John Welch '02   Vice President for Student Services and Community Engagement and Dean of Students John is a member of the Seminary Cabinet and oversee all matters related to community life and engagement and student services such as placement and pastoral care needs. 
     
Andy Greenhow   Interim Dean of Students Andy oversees all matters related to student services such as placement and pastoral care needs. 
     
Danielle Harris   Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Students and Director of Financial Aid Danielle coordinates the Preaching Association which provides students with opportunities to preach in local congregations. Additionally, she supports the dean with administrative tasks. Danielle also works with the Financial Aid Office to coordinate the work-support program.
 

World Mission Initiative

Hunter Farrell

  Director of the World Mission Initiative leads the mission focus at the Seminary that seeks to engage students in what God is doing in the world through short-term cross-cultural mission experiences and other exposures. Learn more about the program.
     
Katie Yates   Administrative Assistant to the World Mission Initiative Katie provides administrative support for the WMI program, and helps to coordinate missions trips, conferences, and other opportunities the program offers.

Worship

Kendra Buckwalter Smith

  Worship Coordinator Kendra oversees the Seminary’s Worship Program, which equips students for Christian ministries as faithful, thoughtful, and hospitable worshipers and worship leaders.
     
Michael Frank    Chapel Musician Michael directs the PTS Chapel Choir, provides musical accompaniment for daily chapel services drawing on a wide variety of worship music, and guides students in selecting and leading worship music.
