Mission at Home and Abroad
Pittsburgh Theological Seminary’s Office of Continuing Education will present bi-annual “Journey Inward, Journey Outward” Thurs., Oct. 27 from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Joyce MacKichan Walker, minister of education at Nassau Presbyterian Church in Princeton, N.J., will lecture on “Mission at Home and Abroad.”
MacKichan Walker will help participants compare the oft-held view of God as a personal divine butler and therapist to the picture of the God we know in Jesus Christ—the sovereign triune God. She will go on to consider the implications of these views for educational ministries and the mission of the Church.
In addition to the keynote address, three workshops will also be offered. Todd Leitch, associate pastor at Shadyside Presbyterian Church, will present “Planning and Debriefing Intergenerational Mission Trips.” Jen Haddox, associate director of the Seminary’s World Mission Initiative, will discuss “Short-term Mission Impact.” Cathie Smith, associate pastor at Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, will address “Mission Possible: Local Projects for Your Congregation.”
Registration fee is $25. CE credits are available. Contact the Office of Continuing Education at 412-924-1345 or ConEd@pts.edu with questions. Brochure Online Registration
