47 Family Systems Perspectives for Clergy and Laity

Fr. John Rushofsky, pastor, St. Sebastian Parish, Ross Twp., Pittsburgh, Pa. and Western Pennsylvania Family Center faculty / Participants in this class will enjoy a hands-on approach to develop a fuller knowledge of Family Systems Theory and how it can help them understand their relationships with members of their congregation. No previous study of Family Systems is necessary. Text to read will be determined at the first meeting. There will be “real life” presentations by group members. Ron Peters, Director of the Metro-Urban Institute at PTS and Professor of Urban Ministry / More than 1.6 million people die annually due to some violent act – from bullying among school-age children, domestic violence, child abuse, video games, punk rock, gangsta rap, and hazing on college campuses, to reckless or illegal use of guns, suicidal bombings, and acts of war. Violence harms both individuals and communities. What are the riches of Orthodoxy that so many of different backgrounds have found compelling, even in the 21st century Western world? Professor Humphrey, born fourth-generation Salvationist, became Orthodox by way of Anglicanism.
