Our Administration & StaffAcademic ServicesByron Jackson is vice president for academic affairs and dean of faculty. He joined the faculty in 1986 and is the Louise and Perry Dick associate professor of church education. Further information about Jackson is available on his faculty page.
John
Welch '02 serves as vice president for student services and dean of
students. He joined the administrative cabinet in 2007. Welch graduated from
Carnegie Mellon University (B.S.) and Pittsburgh Theological Seminary (M.Div.). Kathy Anderson '04 provides support services for the faculty members at the Seminary. She began her service in 1999. Anderson earned her B.M.E. from Wittenberg University and her master's from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in 2004.
Lisa Bick serves as the assistant Playroom director and joined the staff in 1998. Bick earned her degree from the Community College of Allegheny County.
Cheryl De Paolis is the director of financial aid. She joined the staff in 2008. De Paolis earned her bachelor's from Clarion University of Pennsylvania, computer information specialist certification from Community College of Allegheny County, and master's from Pennsylvania State University.
Anne Malone is the registrar at the Seminary. She joined the staff in 2003. Malone earned her bachelor's from Christian Heritage College.
Admissions Office
Sherry Sparks '95 is the
Seminary's
director of admissions and vocations. She is ordained as Minister of Word and
Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). A graduate of Carlow
University (B.A.), Duquesne
University (M.MEd.), and Pittsburgh Theological Seminary (M.Div.), she joined the
staff in 1998.
Ursula Sumic provides administrative
assistance in the Admissions Office and
Financial Aid Office. She joined the Seminary's staff in 1998.
Barbour Library StaffSharon Taylor, Ph.D. is the Donald G. Miller Librarian and director of the Barbour Library. She earned her degrees from Florida State University (B.A. and M.L.S.), Reformed Theological Seminary (M.Div.), Princeton Theological Seminary (ThM), and Boston College (Ph.D.). She started at the Seminary in 2007. For further information about Taylor, please visit her faculty page. Karen Baughman serves as the full time technical processor. Baughman is a graduate of Shippensburg University (B.S.) and Dominican University (M.L.S.) and received her M.Div. from the Seminary in 2006. David Brennan joined the staff in 2001 as the electronic services librarian. He earned his bachelor's from Gannon University and his MLS from the University of Pittsburgh. Tim Browning is the manager of technical services in the Seminary's library. He joined the staff in 2008. Browning is a graduate of Atlantic Christian College (B.A.), Lexington Theological Seminary (M.Div.), and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (M.S.L.S.). Diane Faust serves as serials librarian. She joined the Seminary staff in 2003. Faust received her M.A.L.S. from the University of Chicago. Sandra Howard serves as a cataloger. She received her MLS from Simmons College in Boston, Mass. Anita Johnson serves as head of public services in the Barbour Library. She is a graduate of Wittenberg University (B.A.), with a degree in English and education, Case Western Reserve University (M.S.L.S.) with a degree in library science, and the University of Dayton (M.A.) focusing on American studies in history and religion. Lipus serves as a part-time evening and weekend librarian. She earned
her degrees from the University of Klagenfurt, Austria (M.A.) and the
University of Pittsburgh (MLIS). Mary
Ellen Scott earned her
bachelor's from Sterling College and M.L.S. from the University of
Pittsburgh. She started working at the Seminary in 1966 and retired in 1991.
Since then she has volunteered in the Library as the archivist. Business Office and Auxiliary ServicesPatrick J. Cunningham, CPA serves as the vice president for finance and administration. He received his bachelor’s from the University of Pittsburgh and accounting certificate from Robert Morris University in 1988. Cunningham started at the Seminary in 2007. Lee Bognar provides administrative assistance to the vice president for business affairs. She joined the staff in 1998. Bognar earned her bachelor's and master's from Carlow University. Ellen Frisco joined the Business Office accounting staff in 1981. Frisco is a graduate of Robert Morris University.
Thomas Fulton serves as the facilities
director at the Seminary. He is a graduate of Clarion State College and has
taken classes at the Graduate School of Business at Duquesne. He joined the
staff in 1997. He is assisted in the care and upkeep of the facility by the
following dedicated staff members: Jesse Bagley, painter, joined the staff in 1998.
John Bendzsuk, stationary engineer, joined the staff in 1985. Jerome Costelnock, maintenance, joined the staff in 1994. Al Demeri, custodian, joined the staff in 2002. Joe Mafrici, assistant facilities director, joined the staff in 1994. Robert Marnik, stationary engineer, joined the staff in 1990. Audrey Starr, custodian, joined the staff in 2008. Dan Holmes
is the Seminary's mailroom
director. He joined the staff in 1991. James Lynn is the Seminary's director of computer services. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh (B.S.), he joined the Seminary's staff in 1993. David Middleton is the Seminary's network administrator. Middleton is a graduate of Pennsylvania College of Technology, Pennsylvania State University, with a bachelor's in data networking and a minor in business management. He joined the Seminary's staff in 2004. Paul Schaughency is a retired executive who serves as a volunteer in the Business Office, dealing primarily with personnel services. Schaughency is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. Carol Spotts has worked in accounting and the Business Office since 1981. She is the primary contact for apartment information. Center for Business, Religion and Public LifeDeirdre King Hainsworth is the director of the Center for Business, Religion and Public Life, and serves as assistant professor of Christian ethics. As director of the Center, Hainsworth builds on the Center’s tradition of promoting public discussion and ethical reflection among the business and religious communities by extending the Center’s work to the students, churches, and other communities the Seminary serves. Hainsworth started at the Seminary in 2005. She received her bachelor's from Harvard University and her M.Div. and doctorate in social ethics from Princeton Theological Seminary. Continuing EducationJames E. Davison '69 is director of continuing education and special events, and he also serves as an adjunct professor in Greek language and exegesis. Davison earned his bachelor's from Westminster College, studied at the University of Ibaden, Nigeria. He earned his M.Div. from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, returned to Europe to study at the Free University of Amsterdam, where he received a Dutch degree in theology, doctorandus, and completed his doctorate in the history of theology at the University of Iowa. Barb Grogan, administrative assistant to the director of continuing education and special events joined the Seminary's staff in 2003. She is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University. Doctor of Ministry ProgramsSusan L. Kendall is the Seminary's director of the Doctor of Ministry Program. She is a Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and continues to serve as associate to the parish at Lewinsville Presbyterian Church, McLean, Va. She received her doctorate in theology, ethics, and culture from Claremont Graduate University. Kendall came to the Seminary in 2004. For more information about Kendall please visit her faculty page. Danielle Waller provides administrative assistance to both the Doctor of Ministry Office and the Summer Youth Institute. She joined the Seminary's staff in 2006.

Jones '77/'89 began as the director of Field Education in 2007. A
graduate of
Holly McKelvey provides support services for the faculty members and Field Education Office. McKelvey came to the Seminary in in 2004.
Thomas Pappalardo, vice president for strategic advancement and marketing came to the Seminary in 2007. He earned his bachelor's from Barrington College and master's from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Nancy Hammond provides administrative assistance to the vice president for strategic advancement and marketing and the vice president for seminary relations and development. She joined the staff in 1984 and assumed her position in the Development Office in 2000.
David Keys joined the Seminary's staff in 2003. He serves as the database and website administrator. Keys earned his bachelor's in marketing from the Pennsylvania State University and is currently pursuing his master's from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. Kelso Bible Lands Museum
Ron Tappy
joined the Seminary's faculty in 1997 and became director of the Bible Lands

page. Nancy Lapp became emerita curator in 2000 after serving as the Seminary's museum curator since 1970. She has a bachelor's from the University of Cincinnati and a master's from McCormick Theological Seminary. Metro-Urban InstituteRonald E. Peters

Lisa Dormire '86 is the vice president for seminary relations. A graduate of Grove City College (B.A.), and Pittsburgh Theological Seminary (M.Div.), she is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). A member of the Seminary staff since 1994, she preaches frequently in local congregations.
Carolyn Cranston '99 is the director of alumnae/i and church relations. She is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania (B.S.) and Pittsburgh Theological Seminary (M.Div.). Cranston is ordained in the PC(USA) and frequently preaches at local congregations. Nancy Hammond provides administrative assistance to the vice president for strategic advancement and marketing and the vice president for seminary relations and development. She joined the staff in 1984 and assumed her position in the Development Office in 2000. David Keys joined the Seminary's staff in 2003. He serves as the database and website administrator. Keys earned his bachelor's in marketing from the Pennsylvania State University and is currently pursuing his master's from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. Summer Youth InstituteEllie Johns '00 serves as the director of the Summer Youth Institute and admissions associate for the Seminary. A graduate of Muskingum College (B.S.) and Pittsburgh Theological Seminary (M.Div.), she joined the staff in 2000. Danielle Waller provides administrative assistance to both the Doctor of Ministry Office and the Summer Youth Institute. She joined the Seminary's staff in 2006.
World Mission InitiativeDonald Dawson became director of the Seminary's World Mission Initiative in 2000. He has a bachelor's from Westminster College and a D.Min. from Union Theological Seminary in Virginia. Jennifer Haddox '06 has been the associate director of WMI since 2008. She earned her undergraduate degree from Eastern University and M.Div. from the Seminary. Glendora Paul '68 has served as mission coordinator at the Seminary since 1995. She is an alumna of the Seminary and also received a doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh. Scott Sunquist
serves as faculty coordinator of the Seminary's World Mission Initiative.
