Dr. Dale C. Allison Jr., Errett M. Grable* professor of New Testament exegesis and early Christianity, has been on the faculty of Pittsburgh Theological Seminary since 1997. Before then he served on the faculties of Texas Christian University (Fort Worth, Texas) and Friends University (Wichita, Kan.). His areas of expertise include Second Temple Judaism, and he is the author of books on early Christian eschatology, the Gospel of Matthew, the so-called Sayings Source or Q, the historical Jesus, and the Testament of Abraham.

His most recent books are Resurrecting Jesus: The Earliest Christian Tradition and Its Interpreters (T. & T. Clark 2005), a collection of essays on the historical Jesus and the resurrection; Studies in Matthew: Interpretation Past and Present (Baker Academic 2005); The Luminous Dusk (Eerdmans, 2006), a book on religious experience in the modern world; and The Love There That's Sleeping: The Art and Spirituality of George Harrison (T. & T. Clark 2006). He is currently at work on a full-length commentary on the book of James.

*In 1964 Minnie K. Grable established the Errett M. Grable Chair in honor of her deceased husband. Mr. Grable worked at Aluminum Cooking Utensil Company, a subsidiary of Alcoa. His competence and hard work later served him as the company's president. During his career, Grable and a partner acquired a small housewares company with later evolved into Rubbermaid, Inc. In addition to his business endeavors, Grable served as president of the Board of Trustees of Western Theological Seminary, a predecessor of Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.
