The Miller Summer Youth Institute gathers 25 rising high school seniors and college freshmen from across the country to participate in our two week program. The participants will live in the Seminary’s residence hall along with the SYI staff made up of college and Seminary students who are also SYI alums. The program is designed to form an intentional Christian community where young people can be challenged to move beyond their comfort zones in order to grow in faith, engage in academic theological study, explore ministry, and learn about Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. In addition to times of study and reflection, you will have the chance to participate in outstanding recreation events, or shall we say, have fun!

The actual cost of SYI is $1,415 per student. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we are able to charge only $600 per student for the entire program plus the cost of transportation. This includes tuition, books, lodging, admission to special events (Gateway Clipper, Pirates game, Kennywood amusement park), and more than 30 meals and snacks.
Each year, a limited number of scholarships are available to cover the $600 program fee as well. For our scholarship recipients, the only out of pocket costs is the price of travel to and from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and a $75 deposit required for admission to the program.

You'll stay on campus in Calian Residence Hall dorm rooms with an assigned roommate and an adult supervisor overseeing small groups of participants.
The scholar’s family and/or church and Presbytery must cover personal expenses and travel to and from Pittsburgh. Transportation scholarships are available. Please contact us for more information at firstname.lastname@example.org.
All meals and several snacks per day are provided throughout the two weeks of the Institute. The cost of the meals is covered by the scholarship. Most meals and all snacks are served in the Kadel Dining Hall on campus. If we are off campus, boxed meals are provided or a cash allowance is given for special events and field trips.
