Announcing Financial Aid for Half-Time Students
Students enrolled half-time (six credits per term) can now qualify for need-based aid and/or merit scholarships. The maximum PTS amount available for half-time students is $3,000 per year (grants and/or scholarship). Both types of aid follow the standard application and renewal procedures that currently exist.
Big Changes to the FASFA and Need-Based Aid Application
The online application for the master's level need-based aid (full-time or half-time) is available on MyPTS or hard copies of the 2017-2018 Financial Aid Application for need-based aid for all master's degree programs can also be downloaded. Please have your FAFSA completed with the application. The Department of Education has changed the FAFSA. Students will enter their 2015 income and tax information (PPY= Prior Prior Year) to be evaluated for 2017-2018.
Federal Loan Request
The Term I, II, and III 2017-2018 Master's Federal Direct Loan Request Form is available. Completed loan packets are processed throughout the year. Directions are available on the application or contact the Financial Aid Office at 412-924-1384 or email@example.com.
Students enrolled in summer credits at PTS may borrow a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan. Please complete the Summer Loan Request Form and the 2017-2018 FAFSA. The 2017-2018 Tuition Grant will be applied to the 2017 summer credits. As always, CPE is not covered by PTS aid. There are no Merit Scholarships, Housing Grants, or Work-Support opportunities during the summer months.
PTS will diligently enforce the long-standing rule of one Housing Grant per unit. The $100 grant will be split among qualifying students. Students may now receive a maximum of 150 percent of the cost of tuition from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary funding. Students may continue to seek outside sources of aid to add to that amount.
