{"id":8289,"date":"2022-07-12T08:30:56","date_gmt":"2022-07-12T13:30:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pts.edu\/blog\/?p=8289"},"modified":"2022-06-28T09:22:27","modified_gmt":"2022-06-28T14:22:27","slug":"hattie-taylor-poem","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pts.edu\/blog\/hattie-taylor-poem\/","title":{"rendered":"I am aging, just like you"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5>by Hattie Taylor<\/h5>\n<p>It&#8217;s as clear as the lack<br \/>\nof lines on my face<br \/>\nI am &#8220;still young.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Could I have chosen to become<br \/>\nA pastor at a later time<br \/>\nI would have.<\/p>\n<p>But I did not choose without pause<br \/>\nAt the age of 15<br \/>\nI pursued a call.<\/p>\n<p>Different pulpits have been filled<br \/>\nFor 12 years by me<br \/>\nI have grown.<\/p>\n<p>When you tell me I am &#8220;a baby&#8221;<br \/>\nOr &#8220;inexperienced&#8221; with a smirk<br \/>\nI am hurt.<\/p>\n<p>I did not choose this to make you uncomfortable.<br \/>\nI did not choose this to perpetually apologize for my age.<br \/>\nI did not choose this because nothing else appealed to me.<br \/>\nI am an individual in this career, because<br \/>\nI felt called by God.<\/p>\n<p>I am more than my &#8220;young age.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Please do not reduce me.<br \/>\n&#8220;Enjoy it!
