Join us for “Becoming the Blessed Church”, a spiritual formation elective, June 22-26. The Rev. Graham Standish, pastor of Calvin Presbyterian Church in Zelienople will lead the discussion.
This course will help pastors and other church leaders assess their own ministries and the extent to which their churches are centered in God’s Spirit and alive to God’s work and presence. Themes include setting a spiritual foundation, becoming a prayerful pastor, nurturing servant leadership, creating the conditions for the Spirit, forming a worshipful center, and forming a balanced church.

Standish is the author of Humble Leadership (2007) and Becoming the Blessed Church (2005) in addition to other books and numerous articles in spirituality and spiritual direction. He is an adjunct professor at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in the Doctor of Ministry program and Certificate in Spiritual Formation Program, focusing on the areas of spirituality and congregational leadership. He has served on the editorial board of Presence, the journal of Spiritual Directors International. Standish is a teacher, retreat leader, spiritual director, and has a background in individual, marital, and family therapy. He earned his doctorate in formative spirituality from Duquesne University, master’s in social work from the University of Pittsburgh, and master of divinity from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. In addition, Standish is founding president of the Vineyard Guild, an organization committed to supporting, nurturing, and training spiritual leaderships and the growth of more spiritually vibrant congregations.
