Big Bang and Cosmic Creation: God, the Universe, and Everything

Online Class

Instructor

James Downey, Vice President for Planning and Institutional Effectiveness, PTS

Dates

Jan. 22-Feb. 16, 2018

Overview

This class will begin with a brief history of the conflict between faith and science that grew in the mid-20th century and continues to divide segments of the church. We will then turn to early universe cosmology, starting with the Big Bang, and learn how science can actually be reconciled with faith and provide insights into God’s creation.

This course will be beneficial to pastors and other ministry leaders who want to engage these topics at a basic level in the communities they serve. No science background is expected although a curiosity about faith and science is required.

This class is supported by funding from AAAS.

Since you are visiting this page, you may be interested in our other science events: the Science! Conversations and Community series, and a one-day event at the Seminary, Holy Curiosity! Science, Wonder, and the Desire to Know.
