Pittsburgh Theological Seminary will present “Genesis and the Moral Imagination” Mondays from 10:00 a.m.-12:15 p.m., March 12-April 2, 2012. The Rev. Dr. Jerome Creach, Robert C. Holland Professor of Old Testament, will lead the discussion.

This course explores Old Testament creation passages and what those passages tell about the moral life. Participants will examine passages from the books of Genesis, Exodus, and Psalms. Among the subjects for study will be: The image of God and non-violence; Sabbath and the moral life; and the relationship between man and woman.

Creach is the Robert C. Holland Professor of Old Testament at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. Before coming to PTS, Creach taught at Barton College, the College of William and Mary, and the Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond. He earned his Ph.D. at Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, Va. Creach is interested in Old Testament theology and the appropriation of the Bible to the life of the Church. Psalms and Prophets are his primary areas of research. Among his publications are three books on the Psalms, a commentary on the book of Joshua, and a forthcoming book on violence in the Bible. A Minister of the Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), Creach has served congregations in Virginia and North Carolina and preaches and teaches regularly in churches in the Pittsburgh area.

Pittsburgh Theological Seminary is a graduate professional institution of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A).
