During its 219th commencement, Pittsburgh Theological Seminary honored Joe Mafrici, assistant facilities director, with The Calian Prize for Campus Community Service.
This award is given to an exemplary member of the Pittsburgh Seminary community, who demonstrates excellence in carrying out responsibilities and volunteer assignments and also expresses a caring spirit of good will and hope essential in life together as a community. The award is in recognition that all members of the community are an important part of the success of the Seminary.
“It was nice to hear Joe’s name called when the Calian Award was announced,” said Tom Fulton, facilities director. “Not only is he a dedicated member of the facilities staff, he is also an active member of the Seminary community at large. His commitment to PTS and to the overall success of our students makes him a very deserving recipient.”
Mafrici has served at Pittsburgh Seminary more than 21 years. In that time, he has served on the Strategic Planning Advisory Council and most recently was a member of the Presidential Search Advisory Committee. Mafrici, a resident of the South Hills of Pittsburgh, is the father of three children.
“Joe is a valuable member of our facilities team, skilled in many trades, and always willing to help with whatever needs to be done on campus. He is also a creative thinker and will often present an idea to solve a problem in a creative way,” said Ann Getkin, vice president for finance and administration.
