Pittsburgh Theological Seminary is excited to announce its newest certificate program—the Graduate Certificate in Church Planting and Revitalization, which forms pioneer leaders attentive to God and God’s world. The hybrid online and intensive classes allow leaders to set apart time to grow in missional and intellectual formation while staying rooted in their context. Accompanied by a cohort learning community and mentored by experienced missional leaders, students in the Graduate Certificate in Church Planting and Revitalization program learn from both academics and practitioners.

“This is an opportunity that is sorely needed by the whole church and will set Pittsburgh Theological Seminary apart as an institution that has the courage to respond to new opportunities for the Church of Jesus Christ,” said Vera White, national coordinator for 1001 New Worshiping Communities, Presbyterian Church USA.

This certificate program is designed for church leaders who are actively engaged in (or contemplating the launch of) a new worshiping community or serving a church undergoing transformation. The program is intended to form and equip non-ordained leaders of missional ventures as well as ordained pastors who sense a calling toward church planting or revitalization.

Through four hybrid courses, concurrent fieldwork, a coaching relationship, and an integrative capstone project, students must complete 18 hours of coursework for this certificate. The program begins in June 2017 and intensives take place quarterly for 12 months, including completion and presentation of the students’ capstone projects. For the founding year of the Church Planting and Revitalization Graduate Certificate Program, PTS is offering the opportunity to be a part of the Director’s Circle. Tuition cost is now just $960!
