Join us for the biennial mission conference “Beyond the Stained Glass: The Church Sent into the World” April 4-5, 2014. This event is offered through the Seminary’s World Mission Initiative.
Participants will gather for worship, workshops, and networking. Keynoters include Julie Clawson, Fahed Abu Akel, and Richard Peace.

About the Workshops

In addition to the keynote addresses, 18 workshops will also be offered. Topics range from “Can We Really Be Friends with Muslims?” to “Site Unseen: Church Website Outreach” and “Burning Pews, Creating An (Un)Church for the Unchurched.” Check out all the topics.

About the Speakers

Julie Clawson is a mom, writer, and pastor who is simply trying to figure out how she can love God and others every day. She recently authored the book, Everyday Justice: The Global Impact of our Daily Choices, an invitation to love God and our neighbors through making ethical purchases.

Fahed Abu Akel is a Palestinian born Presbyterian pastor, who was elected as moderator of the General Assembly in 2002. While serving as a mission pastor in Atlanta, he began and became executive director of the Atlanta Ministry for International Students, an ecumenical organization that provides hospitality to more than 5,000 students from 140 countries.

Richard Peace is the Robert Boyd Munger Professor of Evangelism and Spiritual Formation at Fuller Theological Seminary where he has taught for the past 18 years. A prolific author, Peace has recently written Noticing God, a book on the spiritual discipline of noticing God in everyday life.

Why Attend

“The gathering will bring together individuals, congregations, and mid councils to explore practical ways to look forward,” said the Rev. Dr. Donald Dawson, director of the World Mission Initiative and the New Wilmington Mission Conference. The hope is to help pastors, mission leaders, mission committee members, and others to “take away at least one thing that they could use in their church to help their church become more missional focused, more turned out toward the world,” Dawson said.
