Representative members of The World Alliance of Reformed Churches gathered at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary Oct. 9-14 for a "Consultation on Communion and Justice for North America and English-speaking Caribbean." Participants came from the United States, Canada, Jamaica, and Guyana and represented the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), Christian Reformed Church, United Church, United Church of Christ, United Church of Jamaica and Caymen Islands. During the consultation they explored the theological meaning of communion and communion from a Reformed perspective, the situation of Reformed churches in the North America and the Caribbean, ecumenical relations, and justice as a mission priority.

The World Alliance of Reformed Churches (WARC) is a fellowship of 75 million Reformed Christians in 214 churches in 107 countries. Its member churches are Congregational, Presbyterian, Reformed, and United churches with roots in the 16th-century Reformation led by John Calvin, John Knox, and others. 

Pittsburgh Theological Seminary is a graduate professional institution of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A). Founded in 1794, the Seminary is located in Pittsburgh, Pa. and approximately 320 students are enrolled yearly in the degree programs. The Seminary prepares leaders who proclaim with great joy God’s message of good news in both word and deed. PTS is rooted in the Reformed history of faithfulness to Scripture and commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
