Instructor: Joyce MacKichan Walker, Minister of Education, Nassau Presbyterian Church, Princeton, N.J.

In congregations, our practice of Christian education often overshadows our understanding of, and reflection on, the educational theory that determines and shapes it. In this course participants will reflect on the realities of educational practice in congregations, examine current literature in religious education theory and practice, and determine ways to invite theory to inform educational practice in congregations in order to support and enhance it with quality, relevance, and effectiveness. This course fulfills the religious education theory and practice requirement in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) educator certification process. A paper/project will be assigned after completion of the course.
