Celebrating 35 Years of the Metro-Urban Institute

This year marks a historic milestone as the Metro-Urban Institute celebrates 35 years of ministry, education, and community impact through Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. Our anniversary theme, "Facing the Future with Faith: Imagining a Just World for All," invites us to reflect on our history while envisioning a future rooted in justice, hope, and faithful action. We invite you to join us for two events on Oct. 23.
MUI Intensive Course
10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
Pittsburgh Theological Seminary
We welcome Dr. Obery Hendricks as the instructor for this year's intensive course. Dr. Hendricks is one of the nation's foremost voices on the intersection of religion and political economy in America. He serves as a visiting scholar at Columbia University, visiting professor at Union Theological Seminary, and is emeritus professor of biblical interpretation at New York Theological Seminary. Participants can expect an engaging and thought-provoking experience that challenges us to imagine a more just and equitable future through engagement with the biblical text.

The day's celebration will conclude with an Evening Banquet as we gather to honor the Metro-Urban Institute's legacy, celebrate our community partners, and look forward to the future together. As we commemorate 35 years as Pittsburgh Theological Seminary's Metro-Urban Institute, we embrace this season as a Sankofa moment; looking back as we move forward, centered in community, harnessed by hope, guided by justice, and led by love. We invite you to join us for this memorable celebration.
